Research Lines

The Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering (PPEEL) started its activities in 2009 and is structured in a single concentration area called Industrial Electronic Systems. Having a modern proposal and aligned with the technological and scientific demands of society, especially in the City of Rio de Janeiro. PPEEL has 5 laboratories in which research projects are developed for groups of teachers and students, also involving different collaborations and national and international partnerships. PPEEL professors are associated with 16 research groups registered with CNPq and accredited by CEFET / RJ. The different funding agencies, namely CAPES, CNPq, FAPERJ and FINEP, have supported the research activities of teachers and students in recent years, whether through the approval of project proposals and / or the granting of scholarships. The activities developed by PPEEL are grouped into two lines of research:

1. Instrumentation and Control:

The activities of this line involve the development of basic and advanced research in the areas of Control Systems, Industrial Automation, Process Automation and Applied Scientific Instrumentation. The general objective is to study solutions to technological and scientific problems in the industry by investigating, analyzing and proposing new control methodologies and electronic instrumentation techniques.

2. Signal Processing and Transmission:

This line of research aims to develop systems and applied signal processing techniques based on computational intelligence. The main objective of the scientific investigations of this line of research is to act in the solution of different problems of a multidisciplinary nature found in the industry and in society, involving mainly, recognition of complex patterns, decision support systems, treatment and extraction of relevant information from signals coming from from different domains (in real time or not).
