The program has been contributing to the training of master's degree holders in electrical engineering for the job market and strategic companies in the country, such as the Brazilian Navy, Petrobras, CEPEL (Eletrobras), among others.
The program's research covers relevant aspects such as:

  • Implementation of new techniques for producing solar panels that are more ecologically friendly, cheaper, and as efficient as the current silicon-based ones.
  • Green hydrogen;
  • Applications of fiber optic sensors;
  • Intelligent systems and advanced algorithms;
  • Process control and automation;
  • Robotics;
  • Chip manufacturing and Microelectronics;

PPEEL has been responding to societal demands through various actions. One such action is the creation of social media channels to facilitate interaction with both the internal and external community of CEFET/RJ:

Another initiative is through the accreditation of a new professor in the category of Young Recently Ph.D. Sponsored Professors. This initiative aims to integrate emerging talents into the faculty, giving them an opportunity to develop their academic careers under the guidance of more experienced professors.

Accredited professor: Leonardo Correia Resende from the Federal Institute of Rio de Janeiro (IFRJ)

PPEEL, through professors Luciana Faletti, Milena Pinto, and João Terêncio, is participating (including in the creation) of the Artificial Intelligence Center of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CIA-RJ), whose link is: https://redecia.rio.br/

The CIA-Rio is headquartered at PUC-Rio, represented by LIRA and the Tecgraf Institute. The team is composed of researchers from five other institutions, namely: Uerj, UFRJ, UFF, IME, and Cefet. It brings together experts in AI, geophysics, and engineering. The proposal to create the Center has received support from major companies in the Oil & Gas sector, as well as smaller companies. The interaction between these professionals with proven experience in AI and O&G will allow for proposing challenges and presenting solutions to problems faced by the partner companies and members of the network.

The PPEEL faculty have also stood out in events and initiatives that contribute to the development of academic and research strategies, in addition to promoting interaction with the scientific community and the general public. Some of the main recent participations include:

PPEEL faculty are actively engaged in extension projects, such as successful projects in the state of Rio de Janeiro:

The Postgraduate Calendar allocates a week for CEFET/RJ postgraduate students to participate in the Extension Week (SEPEX):

These actions demonstrate the commitment of PPEEL faculty to education, research, and the social impact of their activities. Since 2022, PPEEL has been promoting lectures to integrate the CEFET/RJ community and the external community through Electrical Engineering topics:
